The treatment goals should tie to the patient’s complaint. The overall objective is to decrease pain and increase functional ability. Be specific about what you want to accomplish for this patient.
Example: Patient will report an increased ability to sit and/or stand from 10 to 20 minutes with a decrease in pain from 8 out 10 to 4 out of 10.
In the future, there will be an emphasis on ADLs and functional mobility. Including
these elements in the documentation now will prepare you for the future.
